A pair of River Oaks hired outside world to design a contemporary garden behind the gym at his house on two floors. The original garden was very traditional in style and function, and was used exclusively as an area for plant species of different foliage and flowers. Her only ornament was a source of three levels, which seemed outdated and made noise all night due to lack of pumps. Our customers asked us to convert a portion of this space into something more functional, and to create a garden more contemporary design in the rest of the property. They also requested to replace the fountain with a water feature more contemporary.

Because that the garden had been designed in the form of an almost perfect rectangle, we had the basic geometry necessary for the development of a new style contemporary. We developed our landscaping plan, breaking the area up in sections of varying size proportional ring. Some of these are more later be used as patio space, others such as garden space, and the largest of the last section and become a water feature much more sophisticated and source.

We began the project by building a red brick courtyard in the first section of the window outside the gym at home. Instead of placing the bricks in a standard, linear, took a more eclectic approach. We put the bricks in alternate rows diagonally creating a sense of immediate movement of the time they went outside. This had the effect of processing both feet and eyes toward the center of the property, and also served to immediately establish the new garden, contemporary design.

In the central section of much of the property, we created a rectangular koi pond the size of a small pool. We deliberately built to be the central feature of the landscape dominant anchor all elements of the garden. We have built a two-inch face around the pond, koi provided, and install lighting in the corners of the fountain at the end closest to the house. Our customers particularly liked this new water feature when it was finished. None of them swimmers, but they had always enjoyed sitting in the pits in the friends' homes. Now he could sit in their own pond, and watch the koi fish swimming around the fountain illuminated.

To further develop the design contemporary garden, we added several features of gardening and physical structures. We have built another courtyard, identical to the First, unlike the end of the lagoon. This framing the water, giving a sense of balance and restraint of refining in the landscape. Also built a sculpture garden, near one side of the pond to add an artistic element of water, masonry, and surrounding vegetation. To do this, of course, we had to significantly restrict the perimeter of the garden itself, so when we finished our construction, there was no room left to install a walkway. Working with what we had, unlike what we had, we built the road through the water. Large pedestals were placed in the pool, topped by large limestone pad that mimics the effect of floating in the water. These pads points were sufficient to support the weight of an adult, and provided a means of transit the pond, and a number of observation within the lagoon itself.

Contemporary garden designs such as this case study are usually a mixture geometry, natural features, and creative use of sculpture, masonry, or other shapes made. The exact dimensions and layout of a garden and varies widely from case to case. This is partly due to the fact that "contemporary" may refer to any number of progressive concepts or eclectic, rather than something definitive that can be identified as a specific artistic style or period of history. Gardens designed in this manner often turn out to be the most effective means of unifying a home with nature, because the forms that are both organic and inorganic are combined in new ways and innovative means that blur the boundaries between natural and man-made, and create a new aesthetic based on natural tranquility combined with a passion for the eclectic and conductive.
